Advance tickets have to be purchased at least one day before your visit.
Purchase of advance tickets is currently possible for temporary exhibitions and Museum+ events. Tickets are available for advance purchase at the museum cashier, online through Jegymester Kft., at Ticket Express outlets and the Eventim network. Opening hours are divided into one-hour slots. Visitors must select the date of their visit and a time within the slot. The ticket entitles you to enter the museum at any time within the selected time slot. Advance purchase tickets ensure direct admission to the museum, although queues at the entrance to an exhibition might occur owing to security reasons. Reduced rate tickets are only valid with the appropriate certificate qualifying for the discount. In the absence of such documentation you will need to purchase a supplementary ticket on the spot. Ticket exchange: if for any reason you are unable to visit the exhibition at the given time it is possible to modify the time of your visit. Modification is only possible once, before the ticket’s end of validity. In the case of tickets purchased through the internet ticket exchange can be carried out online as well. However, if the ticket was bought at the museum or one of the Ticket Express outlets it can be validated for the new date at the museum cashier. Visitors entitled to free admission can only obtain their free tickets personally at the museum cashier by presenting their IDs qualifying for the discount. According to edict 281/2007 the conditions of discounts changed in January 2008. For our temporary exhibitions a 50% discount is available for visitors under 26 and senior citizens above 62 (citizens of the European Economic Area only). The discount does not apply to visitors not falling into the above age groups even if in possession of student or senior citizen ID; in these cases a supplementary ticket has to be purchased at the museum cashier.
