The 100-year-old Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest in nine Hungarian cities

1 December 2005 - 1 January 2006

The Museum of Fine Arts, celebrating the 100-year anniversary of its inception, has arranged representative exhibitions not only within its own walls, but reviving an earlier tradition of arranging shows selected from its collection, it aims to render the jubilee memorable even outside of Budapest.

With the kind support of the Ministry for Cultural Preservation (NKÖM), the Collections of the Egyptian, Classical Antiquities, Prints and Drawings and Modern Departments of the Museum of Fine Arts introduce nearly three-hundred-fifty artworks in a total of nine cities in Hungary over the course of the year. Within the thematic exhibitions, as well as those focusing on one particular artist, Relics of the Egyptian Death Cult, Relics of the Sculpture of Antiquity, and among others, the masterpieces of artists known world over, such as Piranesi, Gauguin, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and Rodin, will be on view.
