As Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, the famous Szépmüvészeti Múzeum, embarks on a major programme of renovation work requiring it to close its doors, the most outstanding masterpieces on which its reputation is based are to go on display at the Musée du Luxembourg.

It is exceptionally momentous for Budapest to host a major collection of Russian avant-garde art from a single museum, especially when the works in question have never been seen together before outside Russia. The Hungarian National Gallery is proud to welcome forty outstanding works of art from the avant-garde collection of the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts, produced by such notable Russian artists as Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, Alexander Rodchenko, El Lissitzky, Natalia Goncharova and Mikhail Larionov.

In Search of Prince Genji - Japan in Words and Images is the next show in a series of exhibitions presenting traditional Asian art from the collection of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts alongside Hungarian contemporary artworks. Its focal point is the aesthetic ideal of traditional Japanese art and its reception in Europe.
