Funerary stela of the inspector Sehotepib
The Middle Kingdom stela of agent Sehotep-ib recalls the – idealised – cohesion and affinity of an Egyptian family: the scene of presenting offerings to the deceased couple sitting on chairs is accompanied by the figures of family members and other relatives sitting on the ground. The figures were originally painted and fashioned in sunken relief.
